Paving the way towards Europe’s clean industrial transformation
Earlier this month, the 2025 Cleantech Conference: Advancing Europe’s clean industrial transformation explored Europe’s journey towards a competitive, resilience and decarbonised future. The event brought together industry leading policymakers, sector leaders, investors and key representatives from projects supported by the Innovation Fund.
Ursula Von Der Leyen, the Commission President, opened the event with a strong message, emphasising the critical role of the Clean Industrial Deal. To maintain regional competitiveness and its position as a cleantech leader, Europe is securing more funding for innovation, streamlining business rules and ensuring continued access to vital raw materials. Von Der Leyen explained that the event represented the proof that the clean industry movement was well and truly on its way and that while cleantech in Europe has been a success, to remain ahead, we must act now.
The core theme of the event was that sustainability, prosperity and proftiability are interconnected. Event participants gained insights into the principles of climate action in Europe, suggesting that decarbonisation isn’t only about reducing emisisons but also about moderining the economy and strengthening its competitiveness on a global scale.
The event includes a series of roundtable discussions exploring how the clean industrial deal can enhance innovation and competitiveness. Other discussions prioritised new technologies funded by the Innovation Fund, scaling cleantech by navigating regulations and funding, and reducing Europe’s dependencies and strengthening their supply chains.
The event speeches focused on the following core themes:
How the clean industrial deal can accelerate the economic model for Europe, including innovation and leadership.
How the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Execeutive Agency (CINEA), highlighted how CINEA turns EU policy in clear impacts by funding clean industrial innovation across multiple industries.
Lara Obst of ClimateChoice, a leading representative of cleantech, shared her knowledge on accelerating supply chain decarbonisation, focusing on three areas: collaboration, AI and data infrastructure and smart climate choices.
This year’s event emphasised that climate action lies at the core of economic opportunity on a European and global scale.
